MEET THE TEAM
Riean Norman, CEO

Riean Norman is the founder and Managing Partner at TBE. Riean has 11+ years of experience in all aspects of early stage renewable energy development. As an energy professional, Riean has managed the origination and acquisition of 50,000+ acres and 250,000+ sqft. of rooftops across the Mid-Atlantic, Mid-West and SE regions for utility scale and Distributed Generation (DG) wind and solar projects ranging from 2MW to 499MW arrays. Specific to DG, Riean has in-depth experience with originating Community Solar (CS) projects, managing CS applications, interconnection applications and early stage permitting due diligence.
During Riean’s tenure as an energy professional he quickly realized the gap between black and brown landowners and the renewable energy industry. It took 10 years of acquiring property for energy projects before Riean engaged with and leased a black landowner. Unfortunately, this experience was not unique to Riean, as most of his colleagues shared a similar experience. Over the years, Riean endeavored to understand the basis of this gap. He concluded that the exclusion of black and brown landowners in the industry was not intentional, however, to include these landowners, someone would have to intentionally target them. This realization was the birthplace of TBE.
